Loved seeing you all at Redux, hope everyone got home safely!
Seeing & speaking with you all has re-inspired me to make an effort to share this website as a resource we can all use. Thank you to all the current members who have already checked this place out!
This differs from Groupme, Sift, Slack and the VFAfellows website in that it’s:
You can search for specific keywords or titles. AND search by tags like “sales”, or “programming”, or “music” or by w/e else you want to add (just msg me or another admin). That means links and such that we share will not be lost in the void or forgotten about. (I also just added tags for “city-visits”, “moving”, and a couple of skill-based-groups (remind me of more to add!))
You can post a link or question or anything here and know that it will be on the front page for a while and then become searchable by text or by tag. You can post, knowing that your carefully shared link will not be swept away by memes or off-topic convos (such as in the groupme).
We can share real stats & honest opinions on our compensation, attrition rate, and Yang/Amy/Organizational thoughts.
Instead of a singular thread of discussion about the idea you really wanted to share, folks can comment and discuss things in a nested manner. See here for an example of why this is AWESOME, in another similar community (that this one is based off of).
We have the ability to make this community invite only. Right now this ability is disabled so our class can all sign up. But this is cool b/c we can invite our fellow Fellows AND invite our friends/family who might benefit from our community (and if folks outside the in-group are mis-behaving we can talk to who invited them and resolve the issue maturely). OR it can always be disabled and we can be open & friendly - would love to hear your thoughts.
See this link for some more details on the FULL technical capabilities of this battlestation! And lmk/reply if you have thoughts on how we can utilize/customize this space for our use! Everyone can also look at the code that this space is forked from - and ask all the questions noobs/pros welcome!
Some ideas still floating around that I’d love feedback on:
If I’ve ever talked to you about this place in person, or if something in the above sounds cool to you, I encourage you to sign up and/or submit a story or reply to another thread. If you were thinking of something during Redux, and wanted to share it out, maybe try doing so here. No courage without risk my fiends!
P.S. This is a learning experience for me too, I would love feedback/thoughts about how I am promoting this place and especially if I’m crossing any lines or anything :)
